Meridian Mail

Most of what follows is PUBLIC information:


Meridian Mail is an electronic voice messaging system that allows you to communicate with people inside your organization. The system allows you to:
• receive messages
• create messages
• send messages to other mailboxes with several delivery options
• reply to messages
• forward messages to other mailboxes with optional introduction
• create personal distribution lists
The system prompts you at each step. Beyond the internal “help” commands.

Logging into you Meridian Voicemail:
Step 1) Lift your handset and press the "message" button or dial you local access code for Voicemail.
Step 2)Enter your mailbox number. (usually your telephone extension)
Step 3) Enter your password

** The default setting is 3 incorrect Log In attempts before you are permanently locked out of you voicemail. If you receive a message to Contact your Administrator you are locked out.

Recording Your Greeting
Step 1)Log into your Mailbox
Step 2)Press "82"
Step 3)Choose "1" for your External or "2" for your Internal Greeting
Step 4)Press 5 to Record it then "#" when finished

Forwarding Messages
Step 1) Log into Meridian Mail
Step 2) Find the Message you want to Forward.
Step 3) Press 73
Step 4) Enter the Forwarding Mailbox Number(s) followed by "#"
Step 5) Press ## to complete list
Step 6) Press 5 to Record a Message header
Step 7) Press 79 to send the Message

Replying to a Message
Step 1)Log into you Mailbox
Step 2)Find the Message you want to Reply to
Step 3)Press 71
Step 4)Enter in the Recipiants Mailbox number followed by #
Step 5)Press 79 to send

Creating a Message
Step 1)Log into your Mailbox
Step 2)Press "75" to compose the message
Step 3)Enter a list of mailbox or distribution list numbers, pressing # after each one.
Step 4) When you are finished then press # again.
Step 5) Press 5 to record your message then # to stop recording
Step 6)Press 79 to send message.

Deleting/Restoring a Message
Step 1)Log into your Mailbox
Step 2)Press 76 to delete a message.To restore it press 76 again at the same message.If you hang up after you deleted it, your screwed. sorry.

Changing your Password
Step 1)Log into your Mailbox
Step 2)To change your password press 84
Step 3)Enter your new password then the "#" key
Step 4)Enter your new password Again then the "#" key
Step 5)Enter your Old password then the "#" key

Go To- a Specific Message
Step 1)Log into your Mailbox
Step 2)Press 86 then the message number then the "#" key.
i.e. To go to message 12 :
Press- 86 Then-12 Then-#

Creating a Distribution List
Step 1)Log into your Mailbox
Step 2)To create a new list press 85.
Step 3)Enter a number from 1 to 9 to identify the list, then press #.
Step 4)Press 5 to create the list
Step 5)Enter mailbox numbers then press #.

Deleting a Distribution List
Step 1)Log into your Mailbox
Step 2)To delete the last entry in the list, Press 0#.
Step 3)When the list is complete, Press # again

Recording your Personal Verification
Step 1)Log into your Mailbox
Step 2)Press "89"
Step 3)Press "5" to Record you Name
Step 4)Press "#" (Octothorpe) to End

KEY PAD COMMANDS
Listening to your Messages
While listening to your messages you have the following options:
1. Play your message- press 2
2. Rewinding your message- press 1
3. Fast forwarding you message- press 3
4. Previous message- press 4
5. Next message- press 6
6. Call sender- press 9
7. HELP- press *
8. Attendant/Thru dial- press 0
9. Cancel/Exit- press #
10. Record- press 5
11. Message Commands- press 7
12. Mailbox Commnads- press 8
13. Go To a specific message- Press 86

Using Thru-Dial
You can use this feature if you are away from the office to make long distance calls through your Meridian Voicemail box.
To make calls outside your PBX using your voicemail follow these 3 steps:
Step 1. Log into you Meridian Mailbox.
Step 2. Enter your password
Step 3. While listening to the greeting press #0, then
immediately dial the number you wish to call, followed
by the" # " pound key.
i.e. #0, 9-1-800-555-1212#
*Remember to include your outside access number whatever it is(9)(8). This feature has to be programmed in your Meridian Voicemail system before it will work. You can set this up to dial internal or external numbers.

For inter-office numbers, only #0 followed by the extension is necessary i.e. #0,5000#

After listening to your message you have the following option:
70—After recording a message press 70. For Urgent delivery, press 1; for standard delivery, press 2; for economy delivery, press 3; for private delivery, press 4; for acknowledgment, press 5; for timed delivery press 6.
71—REPLY TO (sender’s mailbox number or name). Meridian mail automatically addresses your reply to the sender, at internal or on net locations
72—PLAY ENVELOPE to hear contents of the message envelope, containing the list or recipients.
73—FORWARD MESSAGE (message number). Enter a 4 digit internal mailbox, the 8-digit on net number for external sites or a distribution list to which you want to forward the message, then press #. Repeat this step for another mailbox. To end the list press # again. Then press 5 to record your message and press # to stop then 79 to send. Message sent
75—COMPOSE MESSAGE. Enter a list of mailbox or distribution list numbers, pressing # after each one. Continue to enter mailbox or distribution list numbers followed by # until you have finished, then press # again. Press 5 to record your message then # to stop recording then 79 to send message.
76—DELETE/RESTORE COMMAND. Press 76 to delete a message.To restore it press 76 again at the same message.
79-SEND MESSAGE - To send a message anytime press 79
7*-MESSAGE HELP - To obtain help press 7*
7#-CANCEL/EXIT - To exit any time press 7#

MAILBOX COMMANDS
82-RECORD GREETINGS -To record your greeting press 82 and follow the prompts for external and intenal greetings. External greetings are the greeting people outside the company hear when they call your full number. Internal greeting is the greeting people inside hear when they dial you extension.
83-LOG OFF - To log out of your mailbox press 83.
84-PASSWORD CHANGE - To change your password press 84 then follow the prompts.
